Songbyrde is a platform that supports work across the arts

Songbyrde started as a publishing initiative in India by co-founders Prema Sastri and Sumi Sastri. Between 2008 and 2017, it operated as a publishing and literary platform. Following her passing, the rights to this body of work were consolidated and form part of the platform’s ongoing development. The name Songbyrde reflects this literary history, drawing on the idea of voice and expression as a central element of creative practice. Since 2024, the platform has been rebranded as The Songbyrde Foundation in London and expanded into a broader artist-led platform.

Songbyrde today brings together visual and literary work through a series of collections and a developing publishing programme, integrating artistic practice across different forms and contexts.
